‘Paint party’ raises money for children’s center mural

Arne Nixon Center Advocates hosted a “Canvas and Cordials Paint Party” in Clovis on Wednesday to help raise money for a community mural.

The Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children’s Literature, located at Fresno State’s Henry Madden Library, will use the funds raised from the paint party to pay for a community mural by award-winning children’s book illustrator Rafael López.

Work on the mural is expected to begin in spring 2017.

Wednesday’s event was led by Fresno State alumna Jaipriya Kaur, who teaches beginning and advanced art at Madera High School. Her colorful artwork is filled with the intense energy of each brush stroke, creating brave and deep decisions on canvas.
