Two dogs die in house fire in northwest Fresno

A fire broke out at a home in northwest Fresno Saturday evening causing the death of two dogs that lived in the home, according to Fresno Fire Department spokesman Hector Vasquez.

Just before 9 p.m., firefighters arrived at 454 W. Keats Ave. to find smoke and flames coming from the home, said Vasquez. It took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control, and no one else was injured. The two people that lived in the home were displaced, and two of the rooms in the home were damaged, according to Vasquez.

The damage is estimated at $100,000, and the cause is still under investigation.
