Great American Car Wash hosts blood drive bonanza in Fresno

Those who donate blood this Saturday at the Great American Car Wash will see a wall memorial, watch a Mustang car show and receive a free taco and car wash.

The blood will benefit patients in Valley hospitals. All blood donors will receive a free T-shirt, a free wash from Great American Car Wash and a free taco from La Enchilada Mexican Food.

The memorial wall is one of the largest in the Central Valley, measuring 30 feet high and 120 feet wide. Three panels honor prisoners of war, police and Valley soldiers who died serving their country since Sept. 11.

Blood donations take less than one hour. The Central California Blood Bank stipulates donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old – or 16 with written parental consent. There is no upper age limit.

Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours before donating. Donors can give blood every eight weeks.

Photo identification is required at donor registration.
