A 62-year-old man was knocked to the ground and robbed of a gold necklace Wednesday morning across from the Veterans Administration hospital in central Fresno, police reported.
The robbery took place about 9:22 a.m. as the victim was walking on Fresno Street near Brown Avenue. He was attacked from behind by a man who pushed him to the ground and ripped the necklace from his neck. The suspect did not say anything to the victim before the assault and then ran to a green Toyota Camry driven by another man. The car fled east on Clinton Avenue.
The suspects were described as two black males. The man who committed the robbery was between 25 and 30 years old, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 180 pounds. The necklace was valued at $2000 and had a Buddha medallion attacked to it.
