Woman rescued from Kern River in Tulare County

A woman was brought back to shore safely after the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department received reports of her clinging to a tree in the Kern River around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Tulare County Sheriff’s resident deputies were able to throw 50-year-old Debra Brown a line and a life jacket, and she was brought back to shore with only minor injuries, said the Sheriff’s Department. The Kern County Sheriff’s Swiftwater Rescue Team, U.S. Forest Service, and Cal Fire also assisted in the rescue.

The rescue was the fourth swiftwater rescue since Memorial Day weekend for Tulare County, with a total of 16 people being rescued.
