Fire in abandoned downtown home spreads to adjacent building
A fire broke out in an abandoned building in downtown Fresno Sunday afternoon, and then it spread the building next door, the Fresno Fire Department said.
The fire broke out shortly after 4 p.m. in an abandoned house on F and Los Angeles streets.
At first firefighters thought the fire was contained to one building and then realized it had spread to the adjacent one.
Although the buildings are abandoned, the area has had issues with squatters and transients, Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Thomas Cope said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
