Around 200 tons of hay burned after catching fire Thursday afternoon north of Riverdale, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire near Elkhorn and Marks avenues around 3 p.m., Capt. Tim Gehret said.
“We have it mostly contained at this point,” Gehret said around 7 p.m., when three fire engines and one water tender remained at the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
