Victim in canal accident lived in Huron

A young woman who died after her car went into an irrigation canal near Stratford has been identified as Dolce Pimental, 19, of Huron.

About 1:10 p.m. Thursday, the CHP got a call about a car upside down in a canal crossing Laurel Avenue west of Highway 41.

For unknown reasons, the 2001 Buick LeSabre went off the north edge of the road, rolled over on the dirt shoulder and crashed into the irrigation canal.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor, the CHP said.
