Boats, captains sought for veterans fishing event at Pine Flat Lake
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Central Valley Veterans Organization are looking for boats and captains to support a fishing tournament May 14 at Pine Flat Lake.
The fifth annual Central Valley Veterans’ Warriors on the Lake event has seen more service members sign up than anticipated, and now boat organizers are looking for boat captains and their boats to accommodate about 20 additional service members.
The event is designed to let disabled-military veterans know their lives aren’t over due to their injuries.
If you have a boat, or know someone who does who would like to help out, contact Corps park ranger Art Barragan at 559-673-5151 or the staff at Pine Flat Lake at 559-787-2589.
The event includes breakfast, fishing tournament, barbecue lunch and raffle prizes. It’s free for participants, and everyone will receive an event T-shirt and plaque.
