Magical moonbows at Yosemite

This month’s high water flows and full moon have combined to create good opportunities for photographers to capture moonbows within the mist created by Yosemite’s famous falls.

Moonbows are similar to rainbows, with the main difference being the light source: Rainbows are created by sunlight; moonbows by moonlight.

With the falls churning up a lot of mist this year added to clear skies and the light of a full moon, there is an opportunity to witness moonbows at the base of the falls.

The moon was at its fullest on Friday, April 22, before starting to wane.
