A bicyclist was hit and killed while riding on Shaw Avenue east of Leonard Avenue in Clovis early Wednesday morning, police said.

Clovis police received a report shortly after 6 a.m. that a Toyota Camry had accidentally bumped into a cyclist, who was knocked down onto the side of the road along Shaw Avenue.

The vehicle's driver, who stopped on the south side of Shaw Avenue, was later released without charges, police said. The name of the bicyclist was not immediately available.

As of 12:30 p.m., Shaw Avenue remained closed in both directions between Leonard and Highland avenues while police investigate the crash.
