Madera taxpayers being contacted in tax scam, county warns

Madera County taxpayers are warned not give any personal information to individuals claiming their property is about to be sold at a tax auction, the Madera County Treasurer/Tax Collector’s Office said.

Anyone contacted to pay their alleged unpaid taxes is asked to contact the Madera Police Department at 559-675-4200 or Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.

The county will have a Tax Defaulted Land Sale online from May 14 to May 17 but has not determined the final number of parcels that will be offered for sale. Once the parcel list is finalized, county residents can visit www.madera-county.com/treasurer, and select Online Tax Sale to see if their parcel was included.

Anyone concerned their property may be included in the coming tax sale is asked to contact the Madera County Treasurer/Tax Collector’s Office at 559-675-7713.
