Fresno police seek witnesses to collision that killed 75-year-old woman
Police want witnesses to come forward with information about a fatal traffic collision that occurred Tuesday in north Fresno.
Ellen Ma, 75, was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer while crossing Fresno Street at El Paso Avenue at 2:46 p.m.
Police said Ma was within the marked crosswalk of the northbound lane when the collision occurred.
The right front headlight-parking light area of the SUV struck the victim, who died after she was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
The 72-year-old driver of the SUV told police he entered the intersection on a green light. However, a witness said the signal for Fresno Street was red and the signal for El Paso was green.
Witnesses are asked to call police detective Jeremy Maffei of the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 559-621-5058.
