Tulare man missing after Pismo Beach pier jump, police say

Pismo Beach police have identified a Tulare resident as the man they say jumped off a pier and vanished last week.

Witnesses say Marco Antonio Reyes Jr., 28, jumped voluntarily Saturday night. Reyes had not been found as of early Thursday morning, police Chief Jake Miller said.

Around 9:40 p.m., Pismo Beach police and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection officers responded to a report of a man in the water.

Reyes was allegedly swimming normally after the jump and declined assistance, but minutes later was yelling for help.

Pismo Beach police, Cal Fire and other agencies searched through the predawn hours Sunday. They restarted the search at sunrise with a California Highway Patrol helicopter, then suspend that search Sunday.
