Reading Heart to hold 24-hour book drive in downtown Fresno

Reading Heart will hold a 24-hour book drive to fight illiteracy on Friday and Saturday at Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno.

In addition to collecting books at Chukchansi Park, Reading Heart will accept donations at KSEE24 in Fresno, the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, the Biola Community Center, Ronald McDonald House in Madera, and other locations throughout the central San Joaquin Valley.

Organizers hope to collect 500,000 books, surpassing the world record of 275,000. Both new and used books will be accepted.

Books will be distributed to Fresno County schools, the Marjaree Mason Center, Valley Children’s Hospital, Friends of the Fresno County Public Library and other organizations.
