Coalinga police are looking for a 6-year-old’s missing reindeer, City Manager Marissa Trejo said.
The girl apparently lost her beloved toy one day at school, Trejo said.
She searched at the school for the missing toy, but did not find it.
The child was recently diagnosed with valley fever and needs to undergo continuous check-ups. She would take the toy with her to doctor’s appointments as a comfort..
Her mother publicized the missing toy, which gained the attention of police secretary Brittani Tompkins.
An officer was arranged to show up to the little girl’s home to take a “full report” on the missing item, Trejo said.
The girl tearfully provided the officer with a detailed account of what had happened. The officer gave her his card and told her the department would be on the lookout for the missing reindeer.
The girl’s mother says her daughter is hopeful, and even slept with the officer’s business card.
