Fresno City to host debate for special California election

Fresno City College will host a debate in the special election for California Assembly District 31, the college said.

The Associated Student Government at the college is sponsoring the two-hour debate, which is scheduled to take place at the college’s Old Administration Building Auditorium at 4 p.m. March 16.

ASG Student Trustee Cody Sedano and Legislative Vice President Travis Childress will moderate the event.

The candidates invited to the debate include Dr. Joaquin Arambula, an emergency room doctor, Ted Miller and Clint Olivier, a Fresno City Councilman.

The special election for the district seat is scheduled for April 5.

If a candidate receives a majority of the votes – 50 percent plus one – no special general election will be necessary in June.

The district seat became available after Assemblyman Henry T. Perea resigned.

The event is free and the public is invited. For additional information, the public can contact the ASG office at 559-442-8275.
