A woman driving east on Highway 180 in Fresno County was killed March 12 after she crashed into a power pole and was ejected from her vehicle, the CHP said.
The woman was driving around 65 mph near Highway 180 and De Wolf Avenue around 6:14 p.m. when she drove into an embankment and hit a 60-foot-tall power pole, CHP Sgt. Ed Jacobs said. The pole was sheared at the base and power was temporarily affected in the area.
She was ejected several feet from the vehicle and died at the scene, Jacobs said. A dog that was in the vehicle was ejected as well, but was uninjured in the collision, Jacobs said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, Jacobs said. It appeared the woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
Update at 1:30 p.m. Monday: The woman who died was identified as Patricia McGee, 60, of Sanger, the Fresno County coroner reported.
The California Highway Patrol said McGee died after she crashed into a power pole near DeWolf Avenue around 6:14 p.m.
