A groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastern Madera County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ shelter will be held Saturday in Ahwahnee.

Madera County Supervisor Tom Wheeler will be present, along with two puppies, Inky and Tanner, that are being fostered by SPCA volunteers after they were dumped at a gas station.

The event will also feature a presentation in the Wasuma School multipurpose room, an opportunity to view shelter renderings and participate in a question-and-answer session.

The ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m. and will be held across from Wasuma Elementary School, which is at 43109 Road 49.
