A man sought by police in the Tuesday morning slaying of his wife in east-central Fresno was arrested later in the day near Hume Lake by U.S. Forest Service police.
Chinnawat Vue, 23, was identified as a suspect in the death of his 21-year-old wife. He was taken into custody about midday after a Forest Service officer saw a man who matched the description of the suspect.
Police Lt. Joe Gomez said officers were sent about 8 a.m. to East Norwich and North Whitney avenues, where it was reported there was a victim of a shooting. At a home, they found a dead woman with head injuries. Officers were trying to determine if she had been shot.
Gomez said the suspect notified relatives, who live nearby, that he had killed his wife, and he sent a photo to them that appeared to show he was injured. He said he had cut his throat.
Police distributed a description of Vue a short time later and notified Fresno County sheriff’s deputies to check the Avocado Lake area near Sanger for Vue’s white Toyota Sequoia because Vue was known to frequent the area.
