Hanford man killed in crash at rural intersection

A Hanford man died Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision northwest of Lemoore, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.

The CHP said the crash occurred about 10:40 a.m. as James Bell, 59, of Kingsburg was driving his 2013 Lincoln southbound on 21st Avenue approaching Fremont Avenue. The intersection is about a mile west of Highway 41. Bell failed to yield for a stop sign at Fremont and slammed into the right side of a 1996 Ford driven by the 55-year-old man. The Ford rolled after the collision and the driver was ejected and died at the scene. Bell sustained moderate injuries.

The man was not identified pending notification of relatives.

The CHP said the crash remains under investigation but that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor.
