Four people from Manteca were killed and two others suffered major injuries in a rollover crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 5 just north of the Kern-Kings county line.
The California Highway Patrol reported Monday that Maria Carillo, 40, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban northbound when she lost control about 12:50 a.m. The Suburban veered into the center median, Carillo overcorrected, and the Suburban rolled onto its roof.
The CHP said everyone in the Suburban was wearing a seat belt, but two of the dead were ejected from it. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. The ages and identities of the others were not immediately released.
Efrain Carillo, 49, of Manteca and a 13-year-old boy were taken to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
