Fire kills chickens, destroys coop in southwest Fresno

A chicken coop was engulfed in flames near Fig and Roy Avenues in southwest Fresno on Saturday evening.

The owners of the coop attempted to remove some of the animals before the fire was extinguished. Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour, using several water trucks, before the flames were subdued.

Firefighters worked to keep the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings.
