Fresno VA hospital opens new mental health building
As part of National Salute to Veterans Week, the veterans hospital in Fresno held a grand opening ceremony Friday for a new building that houses mental health services and support to homeless veterans.
The Mental Health Psychosocial Rehab Recovery and Homeless Veterans Center is in Independence Building 27 on the hospital campus at 2615 E. Clinton Ave.
Eligible veterans can receive outpatient services at the center for serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, psychoses, mood disorders, adjustment disorders and anxiety disorders.
The Healthcare for Homeless Veterans program includes supportive housing services, vocational rehabilitation/supported employment, Shelter Plus Care and Veterans Justice Outreach, which provides help for veterans with involvement in the criminal justice system.
