Firefall time at Yosemite National Park
Every year in mid-February, Horsetail Fall in Yosemite – when captured with the right flow, at the right time and in the right light – changes so that the water glows yellow, orange and red, often looking like 1,570 feet of falling fire for about 10 minutes.
Fresno Bee photographer Eric Paul Zamora last captured the event over two nights in February 2010.
A June 2011 photo by Fresno Bee photographer Craig Kohlruss shows what the falls look like normally.
