CHP details fatal west Fresno County crash

California Highway Patrol has given details of the death of a Pixley man Feb. 10 south of Kerman.

About 4:37 p.m., the unidentified 20-year-old driver was westbound on Manning Avenue, approaching McMullin Grade in a 2007 Mustang. Luis Martinez Duran, 44, of Fresno was northbound on McMullin in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

The CHP said the Mustang driver did not yield for a stop sign at McMullin and drove into the path of the pickup, which broadsided the Mustang’s driver-side door. The Mustang spun and collided with a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by Andrew Garcia, 27, of Fresno.

The Mustang driver died at the scene. Duran sustained minor injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. Garcia and a passenger were not injured.
