Crash cuts power to Sanger High, blocks part of McCall Avenue

A pickup truck hit a power pole and caused a power outage at Sanger High School for nearly half an hour Tuesday evening, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. said.

The collision was near Annadale and McCall avenues in Sanger. A pickup truck with a trailer hit the pole and the impact sheared the pole from its base, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said. The wire held the pole up off the ground but it was leaning, Guidi said.

The outage lasted from approximately 5:25 to 5:50 p.m.

Parts of McCall Avenue will be closed to traffic as PG&E works to repair the pole. Guidi said PG&E expects the repairs to be finished in the early morning hours Wednesday.

No students or staff from the high school were involved in the collision, said Sanger High Principal Daniel Chacon.

No other information was immediately available.
