Funeral services, donations announced for Tulare sheriff’s plane crash victims

Funeral services have been scheduled for the two men who died in the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office plane crash on Feb. 10.

Services for sheriff’s pilot James Chavez will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 20. The church service will be at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 750 E. Grangeville Blvd. in Hanford. Graveside services will be at Grangeville Cemetery at 10428 14th Ave. in Armona.

Services for sheriff’s deputy Scott Ballantyne will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 22. The church service will be at Visalia First Assembly of God, 3737 S. Akers St. in Visalia. Graveside services will be at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave.

The families of Ballantyne and Chavez have set up two accounts for donations: One for the Chavez family and one for the Deputy Scott Ballantyne Memorial Scholarship.

Checks can be mailed to or dropped off at the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff’s Association office at 704 W. Main St., Visalia, CA 93291. For more details on donations of money and flower arrangements, contact the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association at 559-636-1199.

Checks should be written to the Tulare County Deputy Sheriff’s Benevolent Association with either “Chavez” or “Ballantyne” written in the memo line.
