Applicants sought for Fresno County grand jury
The Fresno County Superior Court is recruiting for the 19-seat grand jury for the one-year term that begins in July.
The grand jury investigates and reports on civil matters dealing with Fresno County government, spokeswoman Sherry Spears said. It is a way for citizens to voice their concerns and hold their government accountable on a variety of issues.
Grand jurors serve for one year with the option to apply for an additional consecutive term, Spears said. Jurors devote up to 80 hours a month to grand jury business and are compensated with mileage reimbursement.
To qualify, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a current Fresno County resident for at least one year, proficient in English, have sound judgment, fair character and more.
Applications will be accepted through March 4. Sign-ups are available at www.fresno.courts.ca.gov or by calling 559-457-1605.
