Tulare County teen boy killed in ATV mishap

A 15-year-old boy riding a quad runner all-terrain vehicle in Tulare County was hit by a car and died, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened about 2 p.m. Sunday in the area of Road 136 and Avenue 84 near Teviston.

The boy was riding south on the dirt shoulder of Road 136 when, for unknown reasons, he made an abrupt turn into the road directly into the path of a 2004 Acura TSX, the CHP said.

He was not wearing a helmet, the CHP said. A family member took him to Delano Regional Medical Center, where he died.
