Around 70,000 pounds of rock fell onto the Generals Highway around 1 p.m. Wednesday, choking traffic just inside the Sequoia National Park entrance.

Crews had the rock slide cleared as of about 5 p.m., the park service reported. The blocked lane was about 2 miles inside the main entrance.

This is the second rock slide in the park this week. On Monday, the Generals Highway was briefly closed to clear rocks from just inside the park.
