Coalinga inmate food sale raises $6,670 for Poverello House
Inmates from Coalinga’s Pleasant Valley State Prison donated $6,670 to Poverello House on Jan. 7 as part of a food sale fundraiser held in December.
The Inmate Leisure Time Activity Group, which sponsored the event, consists of several self-help and support programs for the inmates. Prison staff delivered fried chicken along with other items like holiday cheesecake and donuts for the food sale held on Dec. 19. The group collectively decided to give the donation to Poverello House, which serves the hungry and homeless in Fresno.
