Woman killed in single-car rollover in Hanford

A Hanford woman died when her car went out of control, hit a utility pole and landed upside down, police said Tuesday.

Nena Morales Alaniz, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found alcohol in the car, but it’s not yet known if she had been drinking, police said.

The single-vehicle rollover accident happened in the area of 10th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard.

Alaniz was driving alone in a Nissan Altima, and witnesses said she was speeding, police said.

Traveling north on 10th Avenue, she lost control and went across the median and hit a curb, utility pole and a tree before landing upside down in a Best Buy parking lot.
