Gustine man killed in single-car crash off Highway 33 in Merced County
A single-car crash sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday killed a Gustine man, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The Los Banos CHP received reports of an overturned 1991 Mazda Miata off of Highway 33 near Marshall Road about 7:05 a.m. Thursday, Officer Dean Emehiser said.
Officers who responded to the scene south of Patterson attempted life-saving efforts, but were unable to revive the driver, Roman Garcia, 30, of Gustine, officers said.
The car was found about 75 feet off of the roadway and the driver was ejected from the vehicle, officers said. It remains unclear what time during the night the crash happened.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played any role in the accident, officers said.
