California joins mattress and box spring recycling program

California becomes the second state in the nation with a statewide recycling program for used mattresses and box springs on Thursday.

The program, known as Bye Bye Mattress, lets California residents drop-off used mattresses at participating collection sites and recycling facilities for free.

According to the program’s website, www.byebyemattress.com, collection sites are in West Commerce (Los Angeles County), Oakland and Woodland (north of Sacramento).
