Man shot in southeast Fresno, authorities don’t believe his story
A man with a gunshot wound showed up Tuesday at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, but authorities were uncertain how he got shot, a Fresno County sheriff’s official said.
The victim originally told Fresno police he was hit in the leg during a drive-by shooting near Church and Cedar avenues in the Calwa area. After investigation, authorities don’t think it happened that way, said sheriff’s Lt. Brent Stalker.
Fresno police and Fresno County sheriff’s deputies are working together to investigate because the shooting took place on the Fresno city-Fresno County border, Stalker said.
Police were still searching for a gun in a field near the Calwa area Tuesday night, said Stalker.
No further information was available.
