Attic fire quickly contained at home south of Fresno
An attic fire at a house south of Fresno was quickly extinguished on Monday.
Firefighters received a call about a fire near the intersection of Maple and Clayton avenues around 3 p.m. They arrived minutes later and found smoke escaping from the east side of a house on the 6500 block of South Maple Avenue, said Capt. Ryan Michaels, Fresno County Fire Protection District spokesman.
Firefighters found the fire in the attic, just above the kitchen. The fire was contained 10 minutes later after the ceiling was breached.
The only occupants in the home were two dogs and both were uninjured.
Michaels said the cause of the fire was under investigation. There was no immediate word on the extent of the damage.
Two engines, a ladder truck and a squad truck responded with a total of 18 units.
