Fresno police play Santa in southeast Fresno

Fresno police in the Southeast District teamed with Walmart to adopt a needy family and delivered two truckloads of necessities, gifts and bicycles Monday afternoon to the family of Rosalie Chan.

Lt. Mark Salazar said his officers are good at arresting bad guys and serving warrants, but they also excel at caring for their community.

They wrapped the gifts and loaded them into the trucks to bring them to the Chan family, who live in an apartment near Peach Avenue and Kings Canyon Boulevard. Michael Liebsch, Walmart’s general manager, also went along to help unload the presents.

The holiday delivery brought tears to the eyes of Rosalie Chan and smiles to her four children and a visiting niece, something Salazar called a “humbling experience.”
