Small plane reported missing from San Jose airport on Saturday
A single-engine plane from Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose went missing Saturday afternoon near Bakersfield.
The plane, Piper PA32, disappeared from radar about 10 miles south of Bakersfield around 4 p.m. while flying from San Jose’s Reid-Hillview Airport to Las Vegas’s Henderson Executive Airport, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor.
The FAA issued an alert and started the search-and-rescue process, said Gregor.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reported that debris from a plane was found in Bakersfield, on Panama Lane and Allen Road, by a patrol sergeant around 7:30 p.m, said Cmdr. Shaun Beasley.
The debris was found in an orchard, south of the road, said Beasley.
It was unknown if the debris was from the missing plane Saturday night.
