Madera County DA hires 3 new deputy district attorneys
Madera County hired three new deputy district attorneys, Madera County District Attorney David Linn said Friday.
Senior Deputy District Attorney John Baker had been working in Stanislaus County. He spent time on various assignments including gangs, domestic violence, elder abuse and homicide, the DA said.
Baker is a Fresno State graduate and has a law degree from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. He will work on serious felony cases.
Mary Thornton previously worked on narcotics, homicide, arson and animal abuse cases. She has degrees from Fresno State and the San Joaquin College of Law. Thornton also will be a senior deputy district attorney.
Linn also hired Jason M. Leong, who was recently admitted to the California State Bar. Leong has degrees from University of California at Berkeley and University of California Hastings Law School in San Francisco.
He will be responsible for handling the court’s traffic division, assisting as a line deputy in other departments and doing assigned in-depth legal research for high profile cases, Linn said.
