Interstate 5 over Grapevine open, but weather could close it, CHP says
Interstate 5 over the Grapevine is open Monday morning, but the California Highway Patrol says snow is falling on the busy route into Southern California and it could close if the weather worsens.
Northbound I-5 was closed Sunday night because of to mudslides.
Chains are required on two Central California highways leading into the Sierra Monday, according to the California Department of Transportation.
On Highway 41, chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel-drives with snow tires on all four wheels from two miles north of Big Cedar Springs to one-half mile south of Yosemite National Park.
On Highway 180, chains are required on all vehicles except snow-tire-equipped four-wheel-drive vehicles from 9.3 miles west of the junction with Highway 145.
