Visalia man critically injured after being struck by car

One person was left in critical condition after a driver allegedly struck a pedestrian crossing a busy street in Visalia on Saturday.

Dennis Albert, 74, was struck by a 2013 Mazda sedan driven by Maria Villafana, 63, while he was crossing Mooney Boulevard just north of Princeton Avenue around 5:09 p.m., said Sgt. Damon Maurice. Albert was not in a crosswalk.

Albert was unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition on Sunday.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
