Madera County looking for search and rescue applicants

Applications for Madera County’s Search & Rescue Team are now available.

Those accepted into the program will undergo a 100-hour class and field training course, which covers radio communications, helicopter safety, basic survival, first aid, CPR and other rescue-related topics.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Applications must be received no later than Dec. 31.

The Madera County Sheriffs Search & Rescue Team is trained and certified to carry out the following rescue and recovery functions: 4X4 Team, Dive/Swiftwater Team, Technical Rope Rescue Team, Snowmobile Team, Communication Team, Medical Team, Incident Command Team, OHV Team, Operation Lost & Found Team, and Canine Team.

Applications can be picked up at the Madera sheriff’s main office at 2725 Falcon Drive, Madera, or at the Oakhurst sheriff’s station at 48267 Liberty Drive, Oakhurst.
