Fresno man dies from injuries sustained in mobile home fire
A man found unconscious inside a burning mobile home Monday afternoon died after being taken to a Fresno hospital, according to the Fire Department.
He was identified Tuesday as 65-year-old Ora Fanning, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said.
Fresno city firefighters went to a mobile home in the 3400 block of West Cortland Avenue about 1:52 p.m. and found it engulfed in smoke and flames.
Three people escaped the residence and told firefighters the man was inside. Firefighters found the man in a rear room of the home, said Pete Martinez, Fresno Fire Department’s public information officer. The others, he said, escaped with minor smoke inhalation.
The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The fire was contained about 2:15 and investigators said the cause was accidental. The home was destroyed, but damage estimates were not available Monday afternoon.
The American Red Cross is working with displaced family members to find them a place to stay.
