Accident closes Fresno State roundabout, knocks out power

An accident in which a vehicle hit a power pole around 1:15 a.m. Thursday near the Chestnut and Barstow avenues roundabout on the Fresno State campus closed the intersection and knocked out power to three properties, including the Gibson Farm Market and the Save Mart Center.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. crews were able to replace the pole and restore power a little after 1 p.m.

Both the Save Mart Center and Gibson Farm Market have backup generators, Fresno State spokeswoman Shirley Armbruster said. The campus itself was not affected by the outage.
