Suspicious package outside FedEx causes Clovis street to close

Villa Avenue, between Ashlan Avenue and Pontiac Way in Clovis, was closed for nearly three hours while the Clovis Police Department investigated a mysterious package in front of FedEx Ship Center late Monday afternoon.

A FedEx Ship Center employee noticed the package outside of the store’s entrance gate around 4:15 p.m. and called the Clovis Police Department, said Clovis police.

The Clovis Police Department’s Bomb Squad inspected the package, which was determined not to pose a serious threat, and Villa Avenue reopened Monday around 7 p.m., said police.
