Mental-health stigma busting event scheduled at Clovis Community College
Clovis Community College will offer students an opportunity to speak openly about mental illness from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the “Chalk it Out” event in front of the cafe.
Students can express their thoughts and feelings by chalking out messages on the sidewalk. The goal of the event is to reduce and end the stigma associated with mental health issues and educate and encourage others to seek help if needed.
In addition, Clovis Community College wants to bring awareness to the services available on campus to assist students with mental-health issues ranging from depression to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and for students experiencing relationship and family conflicts. Services are free and confidential to all currently enrolled students; they can learn more about the services by calling 559-325-5377.
