Clovis Police unveil ‘exchange zone’ for safe transactions

Clovis Police debuted a new “exchange zone” where private parties can make transactions in a safe environment.

Those interested in making purchases and sales from Craigslist, eBay and classified ads are encouraged to use the zone, marked in front of Clovis Police Headquarters, 1233 5th St.

The object of the program is to help reduce or prevent fraudulent and illegal transactions while maintaining the privacy of residents, creating a safe space where parties can meet face-to-face and not in the buyer’s or seller’s home.

Although a police officer is not present at the location, it is well lighted and under video surveillance.
