Clovis accident leaves bicyclist in critical condition

A bicyclist is in critical condition after he was hit while trying to cross Herndon Avenue in Clovis on Wednesday, the Clovis Police Department said.

The accident happened around 6:25 p.m. in the eastbound lane on Herndon Avenue in between Clovis and Sunnyside avenues, Sgt. Jim Munro said.

Officers were on scene one minute after getting the call and found the male victim lying face down in the street, Munro said. He was unresponsive.

The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he is in critical condition, Munro said.

The identity of the victim was not immediately available. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
