Valley students raise money for Marjaree Mason Center

About 40 students from several local high schools raised $30,367 for the Marjaree Mason Center through a campaign called HUGS, Helping Underprivileged Girls Succeed.

The groups leaders represent schools from all over the San Joaquin Valley, including Central Unified, Clovis Unified, Fresno Unified, San Joaquin Memorial, Fresno Christian, Chowchilla and Kerman high schools.

HUGS board members include Lauren Kazarian, Tess O'Brien, Zoe Pappas and Franko Roque. All the students attend San Joaquin Memorial.

The Marjaree Mason Center offers shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence in Fresno County. The agency provides services annually for more than 5,000 victims of domestic abuse.
